Announcing the 2nd Bapsi Sidhwa Literary Prize: Celebrating Zoroastrian Writers Worldwide
The prestigious Bapsi Sidhwa Literary Prize returns for its second edition, continuing its mission to honor and showcase the exceptional talent of Zoroastrian writers globally. Established in recognition of acclaimed author Bapsi Sidhwa’s contributions to fictional literature, this biennial award has become a beacon for the Zoroastrian literary community.
Bapsi Sidhwa, is deeply involved in the prize named to honor her. Her support and encouragement have been instrumental in raising the profile of this award and allows us to celebrate the rich tapestry of Zoroastrian literature.
The inaugural award, presented at the 2022 Zoroastrian World Congress, saw an impressive response from writers across India, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the US. Tanaz Bhathena claimed the inaugural prize for her compelling work, “Hunted by the Sky.”
Now, the call for submissions for the 2nd Bapsi Sidhwa Literary Prize is open, inviting entries from Zoroastrian writers aged 18 and above. Eligible works must have been published between January 2022 and April 2024. The winner will not only receive a $2000 cash prize and a trophy but also the unique opportunity to showcase their work at the 18th North American Zoroastrian Congress in Houston, Texas, in December 2024. What’s more, the award will be presented by none other than Bapsi Sidhwa herself, adding a special touch to this recognition.
